The Town of Ramapo is Rockland County's largest and most populous town, located less than 30 miles away from midtown Manhattan. Bordering Bergen County and Orange County, Ramapo encompasses approximately 61 square miles. 30% of the town of Ramapo is devoted to public park and open space, most notably Harriman State Park. The town of Ramapo was established in 1971, the name derived from a local tribe of American Indians.
